Baby Christmas Haul!

First off and most importantly I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I spent Christmas surrounded by family and couldn't have been more blessed! It's been a goal of mine to pick up YouTube again in addition to this blog... so today I thought why wait for a the new year?  Might as well just jump right in... and that I did. Today I uploaded a haul of Elizabeth's first ever Christmas loot. I hope you al enjoy and don't take this the wrong way. I enjoy these types of videos and thought I would share. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Four Things.

I took a mini blogging break since the holiday season has been SO beyond crazy busy. Today, Christmas Eve eve, I have all my gifts wrapped, cards sent out, home (almost) ready for guests... in exhausted. We are chilling today and baking cookies and painting ornaments for our neighbors tonight... but I have a few things on my mind that I want to share. Here we go!

1. Y'all, I love our cat. I've never really been a fan of (domestic) felines, but the fuzz ball we rescued is SO beyond chill. Well, when she's not climbing my Christmas tree or attacking the blinds...or head butting me at 3am because she wants her ears scratched. Anyway, she's fabulous. The one catch is the litter box... yuck. I clean it every morning when I get up and right before bed, and I can still smell it! I am obsessive about my home and I (like everyone else) want it to smell fresh, warm and inviting when you walk in. NOT like a cat box. The Arm & Hammer litter we are using now is the best I've tried so far. I've googled around and found a cat litter deodorizer...do they work? Any other suggestions for keeping her box fresh? Your holy grail litter box? Let me know.

2. I drink coffee daily, at least one cup (or three). Naturally I have an obsession with coffee mugs of all kinds but there is just something special about a new Christmas mug. Maybe that's why I have purchase four so far this season and have my eye on one more I saw at target a few days ago... send help y'all. I am also seriously dreading putting them away for the year in a few days... strange? Yes. But that's me. Is there a group for the coffee mug obsessed? Maybe I can start one.

3. It's going to be a warm(ish) rainy Christmas here in Ohio this year. If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you saw a few weeks ago that we got over four inches of white fluffy goodness. I LOVE taking the boys out to play in the snow, especially on Christmas. Unfortunately it seems that we won't be having a white Christmas this year. Bummer.

4. There are two kinds of people during the holiday season: the type that live for wrapping Christmas gifts, bows, and everything else in between. And there are the people who despise it, would rather pay someone else to do it, and tend to stay up til 3 am on Christmas Eve because they put it off.  I belong to the pro-gift wrap group. Beautiful shiny paper under the tree makes my heart so happy! I purchased ten different types of paper (I know) because they say variety is the spice of life. My family is just going to rip it apart and destroy it... but in the mean time it looks beautiful. It's the little things.

Mini Style: Touches of Gold

It's mini style time, y'all! Right now Elizabeth and I are curled up under blankets while it snows, and watching The Santa Clause. Lately we've been staying super casual and comfy while we adjust to the colder climate-- but I just had to share this one with you!

By now you all know I love grey and gold...if I could get away with it, that's all I would wear or decorate with. Elizabeth's wardrobe definitely reflects that! I paired her black pants with this ADORABLE sweater. I am dying over the little touches of gold.... it's perfect. Her little boots and crown matched perfectly. Honestly, I can't get enough of outfits like this. Casual but cute and nice enough to wear out while we run errands! Win win.

I kept it brief today, but I will see you all for my post on Friday... as always, thanks for reading. God Bless.

Bookworm Goals and Haul

When I was a child and into my teens and young adult life, I read a LOT. I loved books, bookshops, libraries... it's held it's magic for me my entire life. I believe I was a goner the first time I picked up a Harry Potter book, if I'm honest. In the last year and a half I have lost touch with that part of myself. I'm unsure if it's exhaustion or a lack of time to myself, but I rarely pick up a book these days. I randomly found a YouTube video of a book haul and something about it lit up my soul all over again. Instead of purchasing books for my littles (which I happily do often) I decided to get a few new books for my iPad. I much prefer a physical book in my hand BUT it's a lot easier to use my iPad, as it doesn't require a reading light. If I fall in love with any of the books I picked out, a physical copy will probably make it's way onto my bookshelf.... I'm crazy like that.

I read to my kids and purchase new books for them often, so let me know if you would like to see a book haul --kid style! In the meantime I thought I would share with you a few of the titles I picked up. Obviously I don't know much about them yet, but I could possibly do a review as I finish them? Sound interesting? Let me know. This post is about more than just sharing a few books with you all (although that's awesome). This is going to be my reminder to take time for myself, and not to let go of the things that bring me joy...no matter how overwhelming my mom life can become. So my goal is to finish two books a month! I know that doesn't seem like much but between my kids, house, husband and this blog... I'll be happy to fit two in.

I am a little ashamed that it's taken me this long to get my hands on HARRY Potter and the Cursed Child. My twin sister and I are die hard HP fans and are unbelievably proud of our fandom! Since I have committed to this 2-a-month thing, I knew I had to go back to where my love for reading began. I started this one today and so far so good. The format took a minute for me to adjust to, but I think I am going to be purchasing this little baby to add to my HP shelf. Yes, I said shelf.

The next one I learned about through PeruseProject on YouTube. From what she said, its basically a spin on the classic Snow White fairy tale. I am always down for that, so hopefully The Shadow Queen will be worth the read. Stay tuned.

The last book I picked out is a psychological thriller about a woman being held captive. Apparently the main character in Baby Doll is being held against her will but eventually finds the nerve (and opportunity) to escape. I thought this would be an interesting book to mix in with the other two, as it is a completely different genre and will keep me from getting bored.

Do you have any must reads that you recommend? I am open to almost anything, so drop me a line in the comments and tell me about the best book you've read recently! Thank you all so much for stopping by, and as always, God Bless.

Top Six Christmas Movie Favorites

This last week has been rough, y'all. For the first time ever Elizabeth has a full blown cold accompanied by an ear infection. My poor little lady has been a mess and I'm trying to survive on three hours of sleep each night. I know you mommas can relate, so tell me: how do you survive sickness with your children? It hurts my heart so much to see her so uncomfortable, and tying to survive on no sleep with an EXTREMELY clingy baby is no walk in the park. I need your advice! Since we've basically lived on the couch this week, I've spent more time than usual watching television. I think chandler, Elizabeth and I have watched every Christmas movie known to man, and I thought it would be fun to share a few of our favorites with you.

1. The Santa Clause. I have loved this movie since the first time I saw it when I was a little girl. My mom had to repurchase the tape (remember those?!) twice! Last year I found it on DVD and I am so so glad I did. Tim Allen is hilarious in this spin on a classic tale about Santa Claus. You can't beat it.

2. Elf. I don't think I know anyone who Doesn't like Elf.... Will Ferrell. Christmas. How could you go wrong? I love "Buddy's" childlike innocence and the lessons learned in this movie. The kids think it's hilarious and keep it on repeat. SON OF A NUTCRACKER!

3. Home Alone 1&2. I feel like I don't even need to explain myself. This is a family classic that should go down in history as one of the BEST Christmas films of all time. However after the first time watching it, the boys were inspired to try to set up traps in our house so... yeah. Maybe keep that in mind when your littles see it the first time.

4. The Grinch. Dr. Seuss. Enough said.

5. Christmas with the Kranks. Tim Allen kills it again! Honestly, there is a little bit of adult humor in this one. I love the anti-Christmas theme in this film, how everything comes full circle with a heartwarming ending. A super funny film, but probably better suited for a slightly older audience.

6. A Charlie Brown Christmas. I can remember watching this as a little girl on tv with my family. My twin sister is obsessed with Peanuts, as are the boys, so this definitely had to make an appearance at least a few times this year.

Annnnnnnnnnd that's a wrap, folks. Tell me, what are your favorite Holiday movies?   Do you have any traditions associated with holiday films? Comment below! As always, thank you for reading. God Bless!

No Pictures, Please! Well, Not Exactly.

Eventually I am going to share my labor and delivery story with you, but today is not that day. For one it's going to take a while to write and I have a screaming baby on my hands and two, I need to confirm a few things with the people I shared my experience with. Four people stuck out 36 hours of labor with me....They deserve a gold metal to be honest. Seriously though I will share with you soon. Your probably wondering why I am bringing it up (or maybe not I'm just assuming. You might not even care. Who knows). Now to answer the question you didn't even ask!

Probably like many of you reading this, I am apart of "mom groups" on Facebook. {{speaking of Facebook, check out my new page for this blog! It needs some love! Exit shameless promo}} There are honestly 100 mom groups for any parenting, or general, topic you can imagine. For the most part it's a great thing.  It's not always perfect and I have a post planned to discuss that at a later date. Anyway, back on topic. Mom groups. There are also "due date groups" that you can join at the beginning of your pregnancy and everyone posts about milestones, symptoms, all that fun stuff. In one of my due date groups a few days ago someone asked the members to share their L&D photos. I immediately got excited and then the realization that I have none hit me. Not one photo of me in labor, not a single shot of Elizabeth's birth. None of me holding her when I was eventually able to. Nothing. There is a single photo of her in her little bed about two hours after she was born, thank goodness my aunt stopped in to see us right after she was born or I wouldn't have that either.

My heart is just so sad. I have to rely on my memory and the memories of others if I want to remember that special time. Babies change and grow so quickly.... I guess my point is take pictures. Take hundreds. Take pictures of your hospital room. Of the staff (if they're willing). Of your labor, your delivery, and especially after. Once time passes and you think back on such a life changing event your going to want visuals. Obviously I can't change it now but if I could go back I would definitely have hired a birth photographer or at the very least made sure someone sitting in the background took plenty of pictures. Definitely a lesson learned for the future, if another baby is in the cards for us.

Today's post is short and sweet, just a gentle reminder to the mommas to be out there. Hey, and to the seasoned mamas! Take photos of those littles! I know I don't have to remind you how quickly they grow. Time seems to pass in leaps these days. Alright, I'll stop. As always, thanks for reading. Have a good weekend, God Bless.

Makeup Must Haves

Tonight as I was sharing my fake tan routine on my Instagram story (yes, I fake tan in December) I was thinking about the products I use most. I have been passionate about makeup from a VERY young age.. like I used to smuggle my moms stuff to school in second grade. The love (obsession?) has just grown over time, and I find myself using different products regularly... yet I still fall back on my holy grails. Since becoming a momma I find it a lot harder to find time for myself. I'm sure all you moms out there can relate! So over the last seven months I have paired down to the products I ABSOLUTELY need, that are quick and easy to apply, and perform their intended purpose well. Some things do change, like eyeshadow or lip product... because every now and then mommas gotta mix it up. I thought it would be fun to share with you all the products I've used regularly over the last month or two! Let's dive in.

1. Moisturizer: as a teen/young adult I had combination to dry skin. Most of my oil was on my chin and nose, typical tzone oiliness. Unfortunately as an adulty adult (that's a thing right?) I have went from combo to straight up dry skin. Y'all, right now at this very moment I have patches of dry skin on my eyelids! My eyelids! I have never had to deal with this before. I exfoliate my brains out, and it helps, but nothing does my skin better than Cliniques dramatically different moisturizing lotion. My Grandma was a diehard Clinique fan for as long as I can remember, and now I know why. If there is one thing I am willing to invest in, it's my skin.

2. Face Primer: Over the years I have tried SO many face primers, both drugstore and high end. There are several awesome drugstore options, but for my ride or die foundation (listed below) the Benefit Stay Flawless 15-Hour primer is my go to. It's honestly the first stick primer I've ever tried and I didn't have high hopes for it. I am so glad I received it as a sample (looking at you, cashier at Ulta) because it's not something I would typically try on my own. It smooths my dry skin and gives me a flawless base to work with. I love it and would definitely recommend it!

3. Foundation: Personally foundation is the most important element in my beauty routine. I'm not a big fan of concealers, so momma needs FULL coverage. I need something that lasts, doesn't oxidize, and looks good in flash photos. A matte finish is a plus, too. While browsing the feed of one of my favorite Facebook beauty groups I found a thread of ladies going nuts over this Elf Acne Fighting Foundation. After reading up on it, I decided to hunt it down. Maybe it's just the area I live in, but I had to go to FIVE different stores to find this little baby. Eventually I got my hands on it, and it was worth the search. It is a true liquid that sets beautifully! I apply it with a damp round top brush, first stippling it on and then blending in circular motions. It has helped with breakouts... I've had one since I first started using it! I know not everyone has had as good results with the acne fighting portion, but I am over the moon with my results. My only complaint is the shade range. I bought the shade porcelain, and it is certainly not going to match someone who typically purchases a porcelain shade. The range is definitely darker than most, so you super fare girls might not be able to wear this.

4. Setting Powder: I like to see my base, and right now Tarte Amazonian Clay setting powder is doing the trick for me. I received it in a deluxe sample set and enjoy it. It's lightweight and leaves a nice finish on the skin.

5. Bronzer: This time of year I almost exclusively use my NYC Smooth Skin Matte Bronzer in Sunny (not pictured). For me, it is the perfect product for a light glow and easy contour that doesn't require me to blend my arm off. As a mom on a tight time limit, it's perfect. I've been using this bad boy for years and have never been disappointed.

6.  Blush: I have a plethora of blushes, but I find myself going back to MAC Cosmetics blush in Well Dressed. I first tried this back in 2012 and have used it ever since...and maybe bought multiples in case it was ever discontinued.... it's a nice tone of pink that gives a beautiful flush to the cheeks. A little goes a long way with this guy, so it lasts forever. Bonus!

7. Eye Primer: If you want you eyeshadow to pop, and last all day, you need to prime. The Nyx HD Eyeshadow Base is yet another product I have stockpiled because it's affordable, outperforms most of its competitors, and has a doe foot applicator. It's a win/win, folks.

8. Eyeshadow: The shadow I'm using changes on a regular basis for me. This is another makeup item that I tend to get super excited about, and spend way too much on. Lately I've been in an all matte phase, so I was over the moon when my sister gave me an early Christmas gift that included Tarte's 'Tartelette Tease' palette. This mini palette packs a punch with a mix of six matte and shimmer shadows. The matte shades are actually creamy and pigmented, which isn't always the case with a matte formula. I would definitely recommend this little guy!

9. Eyeliner: I am a winged liner type of girl, and most liquids will do the trick for me. However, I am INSANELY picky over my pencil liners. A few years ago I fell in love with Urban Decays 24/7 Glide On kohl liners. Unfortunately I went through them rather quickly, and the price tag isn't ideal. Thankfully I received Rimmel London's ScandalEyes Kohl Liner through voxbox a while ago. They are INDENTICAL, Fam. RL may actually be better, if I am being honest. At a fraction of the cost, I stocked up on every shade. My favorite is the black... it is so dark and smooth when applied. If you prefer a white or nude, they have your back!

10. Mascara: I feel like I have tried every mascara on the market,  and I always come back to Rimmels Retro Glam. It is a dupe for Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and is slot easier on the wallet. When I wear Retro Glam (with curled lashes) I can skip the falsies. Score!

11. Lips: As previously stated, my lip product changes regularly. However liquid lips are my obsession right now,  and I recently received this Tarteist Lip Paint as a gift. I love nudes, so I was super excited. However upon initial use I was super disappointed! It settled in lines and feathered and I looked like a mess. After a little research and playing with it, I found that if I use lip liner all over my lips first, I am much happier with the result!

Shooooooo! Laaaawd that's a lot of makeup talk. TBH, I love it and I hope you did too. Go ahead and leave me a comment down below telling me all about your favorite beauty product! As always, thank you so much for reading. God Bless.
