Bath Time Favorites: 0-6 Months

Bath time has always been one of my favorite bonding activities with Elizabeth. Her first bath at the hospital was stressful for me, because she was sore and miserable the entire time. Honestly I don't know of many littles who have an awesome experience the first time around. They are new to the world, cold, and want their momma. Once we were home and her cord stump fell off we had a MUCH better experience and it's now her favorite activity of the day! I thought it would be fun to share with you a few of our must have bath time products from her first six months of life.

Let's start off with the main component to bath time: the tub. While I was pregnant I looked into (what felt like) a million different options. We registered for a jetted tub for her (I know, I know.) and luckily we didn't receive it at our shower. I say luckily because now that she is here I see how unnecessary that really is... but it sounded awesome at the time, okay? We eventually settled on the Summer Infant Newborn-To-Toddler Deluxe Bath Shower System. While my daughter was a newborn I LOVED this. The little sprayer that came with it was my main motivation for purchasing this tub and it made rinsing her hair a breeze. It only takes a minute to fill the compartment up with water and is detachable! Easy peasy, y'all. However as she grew and began to grow and wiggle she would slide around on the newborn seat that comes with the tub. Definitely not ideal, but if you are giving baby the attention you should be during bath time it's not a big deal. The tub is easy to clean, fits in my bathroom closet, and overall fills its intended purpose.

I don't know about you, but to me there are few scents better than a baby fresh from a bath. We have tried multiple baby washes and always come back to Johnson and Johnson. Before you jump down My throat, I have done research and made an educated decision that Brandon and I are comfortable with. We received several gift sets at my shower similar to the one pictured above and love it! She is almost seven months old and we haven't had to purchase any for her yet. We also received a few small bottles of Baby Magic wash and lotion at my shower and like that as well. But for us, J&J is our preference right now. Once our supply dwindles a little more we may venture out and try a few other brands... stay tuned!

My last bath time favorite/necessity is the aden anais wash cloths. They. Are. Awesome. We have several sets of Gerber wash cloths which I do like, but they are no where near as soft after being washed a few times. You can never have too many of these! We also love hooded towels. Y'all, there's nothing sweeter than a baby in a hooded towel. Unless they decide to pee on you before you get a diaper on them. That's not cute. Anyway, we picked up a few sets at Target and Babies R Us and they've held up great. Unfortunately, she is almost too long for them now. If you have any recommendations for longer ones, let me know. I'm not ready to give up the cuteness yet!

I hope you found my little list helpful. Elizabeth has just started playing with bath toys, and has a new "big girl" tub, so I see a update coming in the near future. Thank you all so much for stopping by, I appreciate you so much! Until next time, God Bless.

Checking In

It's been a minute since the last time I talked to all of you. The holiday season is here and I have never been more busy in my life! This is one of the best times of the year, I'm just trying to soak it all in. If you follow me on my other social media I post regularly (especially Instagram!) so you can keep up with me on a daily basis, if you'd like. Don't worry, I don't plan to slow down or stop updating here! I love it way too much. This is my happy place, y'all. Okay, let's talk about Thanksgiving! First of all I hope everyone enjoyed a blessed meal with the people you cherish most. I decided to host this year... and I gotta publicly announce that I have under appreciated my family for the past twenty five years. Single handedly putting together a holiday meal is unbelievably stressful. I have never in my life cooked a turkey, but after a little research and advice from family....I made the most tender, juicy turkey I've ever eaten. I'm not even going to act like I'm not proud of myself because Lord knows I was stressing about it for days. I started cooking TWO DAYS before Thanksgiving and still spent nine hours in the kitchen. It was so worth it once my family arrived and we were at the table together! I was so in the moment I didn't take half of the pictures I wanted to, but I have plenty of memories to cherish.

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for Elizabeth's first Christmas. This week we plan to go do the bulk of our Christmas shopping, which is super exciting! I could possibly have a baby gift guide coming up.... stay tuned! We took the boys last night to see a local holiday lights show. I've been going for years so it was really fun to include our little people. Afterwards we baked sugar. Cookies while we watched home alone. The boys have never seen it, so Kevin fascinated them! We are going to put up our own lights this weekend... I don't do heights in any capacity so that is all on Brandon. Say a prayer for him! I will definitely share the finished product with all of you. On an unrelated note...we have added a new member to our family! A gorgeous six month old kitten named Duchess is currently running our house. She was abandoned by my moms neighbors, they moved and just left her outside. My mom took her in but isn't home enough to have a pet.... and here we are. In all honestly she's probably the most laid back cat I've ever met. She's cuddly, loves the kids and sleeps most of the day. Now if I could just get her to stop climbing my Christmas tree! Any suggestions? Alright y'all I've rambled long enough. I just wanted to touch base and check in. Like I said, I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving! As always, thank you for reading. God Bless.

I'm Not Trying To Get My Body Back After Baby

Listen. I do my best to keep it real around here, and lately I've been seeing a lot of posts in my mom groups that don't sit right with me. Women posting about getting their "body back". The first time I read that I thought to myself what does that even mean? Obviously I knew they were talking about losing the weight gained during pregnancy, but it rubbed me the wrong way. Now I'm not going to sit here and act like I'm in an awesome headspace when it comes to body image all the time... because I'm totally not. If you don't know, I lost about 70 pounds before I got pregnant with Ellie. Let me tell you, I worked my ass off to lose every single pound. As you can imagine gaining 31 of those pounds back was a mental struggle, and still is. I am learning first hand that for me, it's taking twice as long to lose now. My postpartum body is different. But that's okay!

Two months before I conceived vs three weeks before delivery

It's okay. Say that with me. IT IS OKAY! Did you say it? It really helps.... go ahead. Try it. Feels good, huh? Okay now back to business. I want to feel good when I wake up in the morning. I want to have my energy back. I want my body to perform the way it did pre baby. In all honestly, I want to look good too. Maybe that sounds superficial but I am fine with that. I'm also aware that what looks good to me might be the complete opposite to you. With all that being said, I don't want to "get my body back". My body didn't go anywhere and it worked EXTREMELY hard to give me my beautiful daughter. I want to celebrate where I am at in my journey. I want to look forward to reaching my goals for the future. I want to love who I am now... and how I look NOW. We all have bad days, sure. I have days when nothing fits right and I feel like a swamp monster. Who doesn't?

I have days of weakness where I eat like a teenage boy and can't motivate myself to get out the door for a run. I also have days where I crush P90X (my current fitness adventure) like a beast. It's all about balance. I guess after seeing one too many posts of mommas bashing themselves I just want to let you know that if your not in love with how you look, or where your at, it's okay. Your going to reach your goals! I promise you, you'll get there. But don't forget where your at now. Enjoy life because it is so short. I know I don't want to look back thirty years from now, wishing I would have done this or that.... but didn't because I was unhappy with myself in that moment. I'm working hard on myself, mentally and physically. I encourage you all to do the same, but be gentle!

Alright, I'm off my soapbox. I love you all. God Bless.

Three Things: Christmas Trees, Baby Gear, and Thanksgiving Dinner.

I thought it would be fun to talk with you about three things that have been on my mind lately. Nothing serious, nothing heavy. Every now and then I have something that I just can't get out of my head... here are a few:

1. My Christmas tree. Now before you start typing away in the comments about how it's "too early" and that I am "skipping Thanksgiving " I assure you it's not and I am not. In my household, I like to put my tree up in early November. The longer it's up, the longer I can enjoy it! I tend to slowly add in other decorations as the month of November goes by. This year our pre lit tee had a malfunction of sorts and the lights at the top and midway down burnt out. Brandon's solution to fixing that was to just go buy strands of lights to add in. Okay, no big deal. I can handle that. What he didn't tell me was that he planned on buying colorful lights for our white light tree. So after it was all said and done, our trees areas that have both sets of working lights are beautiful. It might not be my style but it's pretty. However the middle and top look dark because there is only one set of lights.... so now I have to pick up lite so it all matches. It might have been easier to buy a new tree. We will never know. I also have an issue with little hands touching the tinsel and ornaments... so you can see they are clustered together and the branches are bent at odd angles. It is what it is... I'll fix it eventually.

2. Outgrown baby gear. Elizabeth has outgrown her swing, rock n play, bouncers, infant tub, bassinet.... pretty much anything she used as a newborn. All this stuff is taking up a lot of space, and I'm not sure what to do with it. I don't really want to pass it on to someone else or sell it. I don't have a garage where I can safely store it, I would be upset if anything got ruined.... but I don't really want to stare at it all the time. See my dilemma? Any ideas would be appreciated!

3. Our Thanksgiving menu. For the first time ever Brandon and I are hosting thanksgiving dinner in our home! I am beyond excited about this, but also overwhelmed. We have several picky eaters in the family so it's making menu planning a little difficult. Someone wants turkey, someone else only eats ham. It's basically been a back and forth struggle. The way it's looking now, there will be plenty of left overs! There's always a bright side.

That's all I have for you today, folks. What's been on your mind lately? Thank you for stopping by as always. God Bless.

Clothing Haul!

It's been a LONG time since I last went to the mall with the intent to purchase multiple clothing pieces. Last year I was pregnant and didn't really want to invest in a lot of maternity wear. I gave birth in may, and for the last six months I've basically been telling myself I need to wait until I lose the rest of my baby weight before I buy anything. I can celebrate with a new, updated, amazing wardrobe splurge once I reach my goals, right? Wrong! Why should I wait and punish myself because my body might be holding on to that weight a little tighter than it would have pre pregnancy? Why should I wear clothing I'm NOT happy or comfortable in, in turn making me unhappy with my appearance? Listen up, folks. I realized that we need to love and accept where we are now before we can move forward.

Shop these items here

And I moved forward.... to the mall... to pick up a few things. And here we are, with a trendy (ish) fall/winter clothing and accessories haul. I don't know about your shopping preferences, but I have no problem investing in nice staple pieces. When it comes to trendy items that may only be worn one season, I would rather buy items that are inexpensive. I feel less guilty if something is only worn a few times if I didn't spend a ton on it. Maybe I'm crazy, but that's how I shop. I love stores like Forever 21 and Rue 21 for that reason! It's affordable and super cute. I hit Rue first, and picked up an adorable pair of black flats with tassels. Unfortunately I picked up the wrong size, so I'll need to exchange them... but they are adorable and I can't wait to wear them! I also picked up a rose gold monogram ring with Elizabeth's initial. I can't wear necklaces very often (Ellie has already broken two) so I tend to reach for rings and bracelets. They got me with their rack of mugs at the register! Isn't the Good Vibes mug everything?!

I desperately needed new jeans, and Forever 21 had my back. I bought two pairs of jeans very similar to the pair above for  $12.50! I couldn't find the exact pair I purchased on the website, but they are almost identical... and online they are $7.90 right now! It's a wonderful thing. I also wanted a pair of sunglasses that would look cute, but not break my heart and bank if they get messed up in my purse or while I'm doing life. I've learned the hard way that I won't keep pricey sunglasses in a hard case in my
purse. Forever 21 always has a TON of options and it was hard not to buy several pairs. In the end I settled on the pair above and they look great. I like stud earrings because my daughter can't pull them out. I saw the adorable cuff earrings and stud set and couldn't leave without them. Necessary? No. But they are inexpensive and cute. So it's fine, right?

I popped in Old Navy because one cannot go to the mall and not go into Old Navy. It's my happy place. After an hour combing the racks, I walked out with a polar bear thermal, a "baby it's cold outside" thermal and an amazing plaid top. I had a hard time passing up a promo my store had going on with socks and leggings, so a few pairs of those items came home with me as well.

I'm sure as the season continues and temperatures drop, I will be picking up a few more items here and there. When that time comes, I will definitely share! In the meantime, maybe a OOTD mom style? In the near future? You never know. I hope you all enjoyed this and I will see you soon. Thanks for stopping by, God Bless.

Style Me: American Pride Vibes

It's a new day, folks. I know a lot of people are unhappy with the current situation our country is in. Personally, I don't share my opinions or feelings on things like this publicly simply because it is way to easy to fall down the rabbit hole. You know what I mean... you start out discussing why you support a candidate, or why you don't, and the next thing you know your in a heated debate with someone you might not even know. I will say that I have never seen people get so upset, and be so disrespectful as I have in the final months of the 2016 election. But here we are, and regardless of how I feel I am going to support my country. With that being said, today is a Style Me post with some patriotic flair. Use one piece from this set, or all, if your feeling feisty. Lets support each other and our country and look good while we are doing it! Here we go.

Y'all, you know how I feel about leggings. If you are in the "leggings aren't pants" camp we probably can't be friends. I love them that much.... and what pairs perfect with leggings? You guessed it. A comfy sweater! Literally what I live in during the winter months. Throw on a pair of uggs and I am a proud basic biotch. (Any body seen my Starbucks cup?!) In all seriousness, this works with any color pallet. Uggs come in a ton of different styles and shades and will match almost any top you choose. It's a beautiful thing.

Back to our patriotic vibes... you could simply add a pair of studs like the gorgeous pair I picked out, or any shade of red or blue. Add a nice watch and headband and bam! Subtle yet supportive. Or you could go all out (like me) and throw in a scarf, flag phone case and a pair of American flag socks. Listen, there are only a few occasions where I get to dress this way. I'm taking full advantage.

I hope we can all adjust smoothly, without too much conflict. I know I'll be doing my best, and I'll be well dressed while I do it. I hope you guys enjoyed today's post. Don't forget to check out my other social media to stay in touch! I appreciate you, and as always... thank you for reading! God Bless.

Elizabeth's Six Month Update

That's right, folks. Elizabeth is six months old! SIX MONTHS. That's half of a year... it really doesn't seem like that much time has passed, yet here we are. The last month has been exciting for us. Ellie has really gotten into her toys. She liked to play before, but I've noticed growth in her attention span and how she plays. It's fun to watch. She's also learning that when she wants something, she screams shrilly to get our attention. I'm hoping she grows out of this as her speech develops. Speaking of vocabulary, Elizabeth can now say "no, no, no!" And "momma" which is very exciting!

She has also discovered how to shake her head no. I'm not sure when or how she figured this one out... she just started seemingly out of nowhere. As you all know, Elizabeth has been enjoying solids for a while now. She's moved on to stage two foods and loves the different varieties! She is still in size two diapers, but I think when I buy the next case she will move up a size. She is still able to get away with a few 3-6m clothing pieces, but the majority of her wardrobe is 6m or 6-9m. She outgrew her shoes overnight! Well, maybe not that quickly, but it sure feels like it. Expect a shoe and accessories haul soon!

I believe I've covered all of Elle's milestones this month. I hope you are all doing well! As always, thank you so much for reading. God Bless.
